Next page is going to be Choc full o action!

NYCC! Well here it is. I know I didn’t photograph everyone at the event… I don’t have that kind of time, so I tried to stay away from people who would fit in the grey areas of this event.
I’m Going to shake it up and start with The Good.
And now THE BAD!
And Finally the things that Could not be identified and all rational went out the window while they decided what to wear.
BUH! But here are some random cute girls to get those nasty images out of your head.

This is a pinup I did because I don’t like the way the Punisher is being drawn recently. PunisherMAX But to be fare the new Punisher written by Greg Rucka and art by Marco Checchetto is pretty hard Punisher

Press only day bitches!!! That’s right unless you shelled out the big bucks or do some sort of industry work you were excluded today. But don’t fear you still have Fri, Sat and Sun. Usually I would open right up with the H8! so I won’t disappoint. I received an E-mail saying show up with I.D. and the conformation E-mail promptly at 10 am. Doors open at 10. So I figured grab the passes and head to the floor. NO! Floor is closed till 4. I could have slept in and got my pass at 3, putter around at some of the stuff out front then hit the floor.
After getting lunch and playing some video-games at home I came back at 4 to be greeted by this. And also this
Not a fan of that.
Upon entering I did a lap of everything and then used the lack of people to get some face time with the Artist Alley! I read the billing and was excited for some of the top names David Lloyd (V For Vendetta artist), Ron Randall (Justice League America, Supergirl) then I saw a man that was not on the billing, did not have a banner, but should have had a grandiose booth, with a banner that shown above all else! The one, the only Geoff Darrow. I even scored a sweet print from him of The Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot. WOOOOOO!!!
In a chat with Geoff Darrow I asked him about his current comic series, that has been on hiatus for several months, Shaolin Cowboy. He said the reason it was on pause was because he went to Japan and worked with a still un-named anime company/Japanese director. He personally confirmed a traditionally animated feature length movie, that he worked very closely on, for an adaptation of his comic. I almost wet myself with joy! If you don’t know what Shaolin Cowboy is, check it out, if you don’t know who Geoff Darrow is… kill yourself (he did a lot of the designs for a little movie called The Matrix)
As for David Lloyd he is promoting his new gritty crime series Kickback. If you like detective stories like L.A. Noir, or even just his art from V, then this is a must have. I talked to him about his process and the whole thing is very traditional. He started with his pencils, inked them, then photocopied them and used colored pencil and crayon to color it. He then scanned them into photoshop and touched them up to remove texture where needed. The over all look is very gritty and cool. I can’t wait to dive into this book.
I also got to finally pick up Elephantmen, very cool I usually don’t like sad tales but this one is so well put together I’m not going to be able to put it down once I start.
I suppose I should finish on some hate after I got to geek out and appreciate some very talented art. I saw absolutely horrible stories with even worse art, that has actually been published. I weep on the inside. Then there were mismatched artists with authors, great art with horrible writing, and great writing with art that looked like a retard alternatively educate-able person drew it with a broken mouse using their feet. Some tried to flag me down, others tried to bribe me, and a few even hired pretty girls to lure in unsuspecting virgins. Not me sir, not today.
Saturday I shall be doing a piece “The Good, The Bad and the WTF” of comic con. About the cos-play and effects on eyeball melting. The rest of next week I am going to devour all the free comics and review them, then the web comics, then the ones I actually paid for. Then I will post the H8! and probably some Luv?
I know this isn’t the next page but I spent the day doing this for a contest. I wish I could have done some hatching and more detail/a background. But I am very happy with 5 hours of scribbling from stick figures to this. COG’s have way too much crap for armor.

The heat is stifeling. The ethanal is not inhibiting my brain as much as this humid opressing heat. Normally I would have been home hours ago, bracing myself against an airconditioner in my apartment. Yet beguiling circumstances lead me around the burough of manhattan. Sweat laden eyelids blind me from the mist than encompasses everyone, in this realization of one of the rings of dantes hell. It is so much so, that I cannont focus on anything without being interrupted by the thought “god damn I’m sweating like a hooker in church.” I have been told I am in what is called a ‘heat dome’ and it should have broken with a cold weather cell that was bringing with it rain at 16:30 (military time, 4:30 pm) today, July the 23rd. Instead I was treated with a burst of sweaty oven fire everytime I left the comfort if air-conditioning. Man was not meant for extended stays in sauna-esq heat. I am about to give up the ghost and move to greenland. The ice is still there right? In conclusion, conclusive evidence concludes that global warming is conclusively real, concluding everyone can suck it…
